Style at the 2008 Emmy Awards

Posted in Uncategorized on September 30, 2008 by caro1001

Awards shows are usually eternal and not so exciting… except for the RED CARPET.

At last week Emmy Awards, television celebreties paraded some dresses to die for and some that made us wish we were dead…

Bold colors popped on the red carpet: such as Mariska Hargitay in a vibrant yellow Carolina Herrera gown

And Julia Louis-Dreyfus in a beautiful salmon gown by Narciso Rodriguez

Christian Applegate rocked the one-shoulder gown with a stunning Reem Acra creation.

Heidi Klum gave the one-shoulder trend a try with an Armani Privé dress… not a killer look for the top model!

And on the worst dressed list:

Desperate housewife Eva Longoria in a fringe+bow+sequin+?! Marchesa dress (and what’s up with the hair too?)

or Co-Star Marcia Cross who looked totally washed out by her Elie Saab dress.

Let’s end on a good note, with my favorite style of the night… House star Olivia Wilde in a romantic gown by Reem Acra. Her simple hair and glowing make-up complete the look perfectly!

Don’t know what to do during those depressing rainy days? The world-renowned cosmetic company M·A·C is visiting Kingston until September 13. The beauty company is introducing its broad variety of professional and cruelty-free products to the Kingston community at The Bay cosmetics department for a limited time.

We love M·A·C wide selection of deep and rich powder eye shadows, long-lasting eye pencils and mineral cosmetics collection.

M·A·C might have a permanent counter if they receive a positive respond from the 3 days trial. Make sure to pay them a visit. Tomorrow, Saturday September 13 from 10am to 6pm at The Bay (Cataraqui Centre 945 Gardiners Road).

It’s a purple world

I’m extremely excited that purple is everywhere these days. Purple is a definite most-have in any wardrobe.

Just a touch: nails, handbags or shoes. Get rid of your summer bright nail colors for dark mauves. Make sure to keep your nails short and rounded. Try OPI France collection which offers great nail lacquers in different dark purple shades. Dress up your dark skinny jeans with a great pair of plum patent leather pumps for a night out. Or add a wine handbag to an outfit.

Juicy Couture

Go fully purple with a dark eggplant silk dress. Very chic and changes from the usual little black dress. Dress down a vibrant magenta pencil skirt with a simple black turtleneck. For a more subtle style, pair a silk top with black or grey trousers or with your favourite pair of jeans.

6inch stilettos!

Posted in Uncategorized on September 9, 2008 by caro1001

When we though that we finally mastered the art of dancing all night in 4inches heels, the world of fashion is throwing at us our new best enemy: the 6inch+ stilettos. Sure with these shoes legs look a mile long. However, I strongly doubt their comfort, functionality, and even aestheticism (some of these sky-high heels look extremely ridiculous).

I cannot imagine when and where I would wear these “stilts”. Giuseppe Zanotti even proposes 7-inch shoes (right). Gwyneth Paltrow might pull them off, but who else could?

Painful? or cute?

Welcome back September

Posted in Uncategorized on September 9, 2008 by caro1001
September screams back to school to a lot of people. September is for me the beginning of the best fashion season.

Every year I’m eager about the arrival of the month of August when fall collections invade stores after weeks of summer sales. Fall fashion is all about layering and comfort. It’s therefore easy to wear your favourite summer pieces into the first autumn month with an edgy twist! Pair shorts with black opaque tights, open toe flats and a structure jacket on top or a cute summer dresses with a belted cardigan and a nice scarf.

Fall is also the perfect time to show off your nicest accessories, which can really bring the WOW effect to an outfit. Go crazy on scarves, skinny belts, over sized necklaces, slouchy handbags.

Another great part of Fall Fashion is SHOES: peep-toe booties, deep color patent pumps, chocolate leather boots, metallic flats!!!
